Terms & Conditions

These are the company terms, conditions, and disclaimers.

General terms and conditions:

Estimate Validity and Pricing:
This estimate is valid for the next 30 days. After this period, project values may be subject to change. Please note that material pricing is always subject to change due to market fluctuations.

Material Deposit:
For projects where the estimated material cost exceeds $200, a deposit of 100% of the estimated material cost is required before work begins and materials are purchased. This deposit is non-refundable if the client cancels the project after materials have been ordered or purchased.

Project Cancellation Policy:
Cancellation by Client: In the event the client cancels the project, any deposits paid for materials that have already been ordered or purchased are non-refundable. If work has already commenced, the client will be billed for the hours worked up to the point of cancellation, in addition to the non-refundable material deposit.
Cancellation by Lake Life Handyman LLC: We reserve the right to cancel the project due to unforeseen circumstances or safety concerns. In such cases, the client will be refunded any payments or deposits made, less the cost of materials already purchased and a pro-rated amount for any work already completed.

Permits and Responsibilities:
The client is responsible for obtaining and paying for any and all necessary building permits, inspections, or licenses required for the work described in this estimate. The client also agrees to make the work area, along with any necessary records or documentation, available for inspection by local authorities as required. Any delays or additional costs incurred due to permit-related issues or inspections will be the sole responsibility of the client.

Scope of Work and Additional Charges:
By accepting the terms of this estimate, Lake Life Handyman LLC agrees to perform the services as described in this document. The client must clear the workspace of all fragile and personal items before work begins. Any work not covered in this estimate that is additional or unforeseen will incur extra charges.
Any changes requested by the client to quantities, specifications, schedule, or other aspects of the services are not binding unless accepted in writing by Lake Life Handyman LLC. Requested changes may lead to additional charges, which the client agrees to pay upon their approval.
Scheduling and Pricing
Lake Life Handyman LLC will complete the services as per the schedule provided within this estimate. Service requests between the hours of 5:00 pm and 9:00 am or on weekends and statutory holidays are subject to emergency pricing. Non-emergency priority service requests are subject to priority pricing.

Payment Terms:
Payment is due upon substantial completion of the project, which is defined as the point at which all services described in this estimate have been performed and the work area is clean and tidy.
If no payment is made within 14 days of the work being completed, the payment is considered late. Late payments are subject to a $25 late charge. This late charge will be applied every 7 days an invoice remains unpaid.
Acceptable payment methods include cash, ACH (bank transfer), check, credit card, Venmo, PayPal, Google Pay, and Apple Pay. There is a $20 returned check fee. The client is responsible for all applicable federal, state, and local taxes levied on this transaction. No tax exemptions will be recognized unless a valid tax exemption certificate is provided.

Electrical Work Disclaimer:

Licensing and Expertise:
Lake Life Handyman LLC is a handyman service and not a licensed electrician. This estimate is for minor electrical work that does not legally require a licensed electrician in New York State. For any complex or extensive electrical work, we strongly recommend that the homeowner consult with a licensed professional. Any electrical work requiring a license will be performed by a qualified and licensed electrician, either hired separately by the client or subcontracted by Lake Life Handyman LLC.

Permits and Inspections:
The client is solely responsible for obtaining and paying for any and all necessary building permits and inspections. This is required for most electrical work by local authorities and the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code. We can assist with the permit process, if requested, for an additional fee. The homeowner is also responsible for making the work area and any necessary records or documentation available for inspection by local authorities as required. Any delays or additional costs incurred due to permit-related issues will be the sole responsibility of the client.

Code Compliance:
All electrical work will be performed in a manner consistent with the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code and local electrical codes. However, this estimate is based on a visual assessment and information provided by the client. This estimate is not a guarantee of code compliance. Hidden or pre-existing conditions may require additional work and expense to meet code requirements, and the homeowner is responsible for ensuring all work performed on their property is up to code.

Liability:
Lake Life Handyman LLC is not responsible for any damages or injuries resulting from improper electrical work performed by others or from pre-existing electrical conditions.

Scope Limitations:
This estimate covers only the electrical work specifically described herein. Any additional electrical work requested by the client will require a separate estimate and agreement.

Plumbing Work Disclaimer:

Licensing and Expertise:

Lake Life Handyman LLC is a handyman service and not a licensed Master Plumber. This estimate is for minor plumbing repairs and installations that fall within the scope of permissible handyman work. Any work requiring a licensed Master Plumber will be explicitly noted and may require a separate contract with a licensed professional.

Permits and Inspections:

The client is solely responsible for obtaining and paying for any and all necessary building permits and inspections. Plumbing work may require permits from the local municipality. The client acknowledges that they are responsible for ensuring that all work performed is in compliance with local building codes. Any delays or additional costs incurred due to permit-related issues will be the sole responsibility of the client.

Existing Conditions:

This estimate is based on a visual inspection of accessible areas. Undiscovered or concealed plumbing issues (e.g., broken pipes, hidden leaks) may arise during the course of work, potentially requiring additional labor and materials, which will result in an updated estimate. We are not responsible for pre-existing water damage or damage caused by concealed leaks that are discovered during the course of work.

Drain Cleaning:

Blockages can be caused by many different things. We will do our best to clear the drain, but we cannot guarantee that the drain will remain clear, nor can we guarantee that we will be able to clear every blockage. If a blockage is caused by a broken pipe or other serious issue, further work by a licensed plumber may be required.

Material Compatibility & Liability:

We will use materials deemed suitable for the described work. However, compatibility with existing plumbing systems cannot be guaranteed in all cases. Our liability is limited to the work performed as described in this estimate. We are not responsible for consequential damages or losses arising from plumbing issues.
